Welcome to TROOP 15

Troop 15 was established in Mecklenburg County in 1918.  It has been sponsored by several different organizations since inception.  In April 1991, St. Francis United Methodist Church in Charlotte, NC chartered Troop 15.

One of the major factors in the success of Troop 15 is the active cooperation and participation of Scouts and parents.  Although we benefit from the scouting and outdoor experience of several adults, Troop 15 is a Scout-led troop. Our senior patrol leader and his staff manage the meetings, outings, calendar, elections, and courts of honor for the troop of about 80 scouts. Boys age 10-17 interested in joining our troop are welcome to attend one of our troop meetings and meet with members of the Senior Patrol. Troop 15 meets at the Youth/Scout Pavilion behind St. Francis United Methodist Church from 7-8:30pm on Monday nights.

In addition to gaining leadership experience and practicing outdoor skills, all Scouts have the opportunity to participate in our monthly outings, which are combined with merit badge workshops.  Recent outings include boating, caving, whitewater rafting, deep-sea fishing, skiing, mountain biking and hiking.  Once a year, experienced scouts are offered the opportunity to participate in a BSA High Adventure Outing at either Philmont, Boundary Waters, SeaBase or Sailing on the Chesapeake.

Troop 15 is affiliated with Cub Scout Pack 15, which also meets at St. Francis. Parents of boys age 6-10 should visit the Pack 15 Web Site.
